The posting

Linux System Engineer

Zurich, Switzerland

Permanent | Hybrid

Are you a Linux professional looking for a role where you can combine hands-on system administration with automation, Kubernetes, scripting and modern infrastructure technologies?

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected and technically sophisticated organisation in Zurich, working within an experienced internal IT team responsible for business-critical systems and services.

You will work in an environment that values technical quality, continuous learning and innovation, with the freedom to take ownership, introduce ideas and develop your expertise across a broad technology landscape.

Your Role

As a Linux System Engineer, you will contribute to the design, implementation, operation and continuous improvement of Linux-based systems and IT services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Linux systems
  • Supporting and developing configuration management and infrastructure automation
  • Operating Kubernetes environments and deploying applications
  • Developing, maintaining and operating internal IT services
  • Creating scripts, tools, interfaces and lightweight applications
  • Using modern technologies, including AI-assisted development, to improve internal tools and processes
  • Supporting monitoring, reliability and continuous improvement of the infrastructure
  • Designing and implementing technical solutions based on user and organisational requirements
  • Working directly with specialist users to understand and solve technical challenges
  • Providing hands-on technical support when required

This is a varied position where you can work across the lifecycle of IT solutions — from design and implementation through to deployment, troubleshooting and ongoing operation.

Your Background

We are looking for someone who combines a solid Linux foundation with curiosity and a willingness to keep developing.

Ideally, you bring:

  • Education or professional training in Computer Science, IT or a related field
  • Solid knowledge of Linux system engineering / administration
  • Experience with scripting and/or programming
  • Practical experience designing and implementing IT solutions
  • Knowledge of configuration management and automation technologies
  • Exposure to Kubernetes and/or Ansible would be highly advantageous
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • An independent, structured and proactive working style
  • A collaborative and communicative personality
  • Motivation to continuously develop your technical knowledge
  • Good German and English skills

You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed. A strong Linux foundation, practical problem-solving ability and the motivation to learn are equally important.

Why Join?

You can expect:

Technical variety – work across Linux, automation, Kubernetes, scripting, application deployment and modern development technologies.

A highly skilled environment – support technically sophisticated users and collaborate on challenging and varied projects.

Excellent development opportunities – access internal and external training and continue expanding your technical expertise.

Ownership & autonomy – take responsibility for systems and solutions rather than simply executing predefined tasks.

Modern technology – work in an environment where new technologies and better ways of working are actively explored.

Experienced colleagues – become part of a knowledgeable internal IT team with expertise across infrastructure, systems, automation and development.

Work-life balance – benefit from flexible working conditions and an attractive overall employment package.

Zurich location – work in a stable, professional and stimulating environment with excellent infrastructure.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.
