Play a key role in the Blue Economy CRC project, based out of Burnie on Tasmania’s north-west coast. This is a 12-month contract to start with, supporting an exciting offshore aquaculture research trial operating around 12km off Burnie in Bass Strait. You’ll be part of a hands-on team working in open-ocean conditions, helping deliver safe, reliable vessel operations while supporting research into the future of sustainable aquaculture. Daily Requirements:
Safe Vessel Operations: Skippering vessels safely and confidently in support of daily project activities in a high energy environment. Project Support: Assisting with operational tasks linked to the Blue Economy CRC offshore aquaculture research trial. Working Offshore: Operating in open-ocean conditions around the Burnie trial site, with a strong focus on safety, planning and teamwork. General Marine Duties: Supporting vessel checks, basic maintenance, equipment handling and day-to-day marine operations. Staying Compliant: Following all company procedures, safety standards, regulatory requirements and project protocols.
Required & Desired Skills:
Coxswains NC1 - Essential Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) - Essential Previous marine, aquaculture or offshore experience highly regarded Strong safety focus and confidence working in changing weather and sea conditions Reliable team player with good communication skills Practical, hands-on approach and strong attention to detail
