Looking for a casual role where you can work with animals, learn specialised skills and be part of a unique aquaculture operation? Join our team as a Casual Hatchery Technician at our Proserpine Prawn Hatchery, where you'll help breed and raise the next generation of tiger prawns that support our farming operations across Australia. Working alongside an experienced team, you'll be involved in every stage of the hatchery process, from caring for broodstock and monitoring larval development through to testing water quality and maintaining optimal growing conditions. No two days are the same, and full training is provided. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for flexible casual work in a unique environment while gaining valuable skills in aquaculture, animal husbandry and hatchery operations.

What You'll Be Doing You'll play an important role in supporting the health, growth and development of our tiger prawn stocks by:
Preparing feed and carrying out daily feeding routines Monitoring prawn health and behaviour across all life stages Conducting health checks using microscopes and visual assessments Sampling and testing water quality to maintain optimal conditions Recording production and hatchery data using iPads and computers Supporting hatchery biosecurity, cleaning and husbandry programs Escalating any concerns to ensure animal welfare and production standards are maintained
What You'll Bring We're looking for someone who is curious, reliable and enjoys working as part of a team. You'll also have:
A strong attention to detail Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn A positive, team-focused attitude The ability to work in a physically demanding environment A commitment to animal welfare, safety and sustainability Australian working rights
Experience in aquaculture, agriculture, animal care or science is highly regarded but not essential. Full training will be provided.
