Join Tassal's Black Tiger Prawn Hatchery in Proserpine and play a leading role in one of Australia's most advanced prawn breeding and production programs. As our Technical Coordinator, you'll provide hands-on leadership across hatchery operations, with a particular focus on broodstock maturation while also supporting larval rearing, algae production and domestication programs. Working closely with the Site Manager, you'll help drive animal performance, mentor team members and identify opportunities to improve hatchery productivity, quality and efficiency. What You'll Be Doing
Coordinating daily hatchery operations to achieve production targets Monitoring broodstock performance, animal health and water quality Providing technical leadership, coaching and support to hatchery staff Troubleshooting husbandry, operational and production challenges Monitoring inventory levels and planning critical consumables Analysing production data and identifying improvement opportunities Maintaining high standards of biosecurity, animal welfare and safety Collaborating across broodstock, larval rearing, algae and domestication teams Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance hatchery performance
What You'll Bring
Extensive experience in aquaculture, hatchery operations or broodstock production Strong understanding of animal husbandry, water quality and biosecurity Experience leading or mentoring operational teams Proven ability to balance competing priorities and coordinate daily activities Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Experience using production systems and Microsoft Office Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills Qualifications in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Animal Science or a related discipline highly regarded Full Australian working rights
