Job Description

The Associate Director, Student & Young Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy plays a critical role in advancing Trinity College’s alumni engagement and annual giving priorities by building a lifelong culture of connection and philanthropy among students and young alumni (graduates of the last 10 years).

This position executes and contributes to a comprehensive student engagement and philanthropy strategy aligned with Advancement and institutional priorities. In addition, the Associate Director manages a portfolio of young alumni leadership annual giving prospects, cultivating and soliciting donors to support Trinity’s annual priorities while building a strong pipeline for future major giving.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and execute a strategic plan for young alumni engagement, including regional events, digital programming, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Create intentional pathways that connect student philanthropy experiences to post-graduate giving and future leadership donor potential.
  • Manage reunion committees for the 5th and 10th reunion cycles, including thoughtful engagement between the first year out and up to the 10th reunion class.
  • Build a culture of giving among students through education, storytelling, and meaningful engagement opportunities leading all student-facing fundraising initiatives, including senior class gift campaigns and class-based philanthropy efforts.
  • Manage a portfolio of young alumni leadership annual giving prospects (typically within the last 10 years), with a focus on qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Plan and execute student- and young alumni-focused events, including on-campus programs, milestone celebrations, and regional gatherings.
  • Collaborate with Director, Advancement Communications, and the central Marketing and Communications department on a communications strategy, including social media, email campaigns, and storytelling efforts targeting students and young alumni.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 years of relevant work experience or specialized training that can be used in lieu of education requirement
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with student philanthropy programs or young alumni engagement strategies
  • Demonstrated success in volunteer management and/or peer-to-peer fundraising
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Slate preferred) and data analysis
  • Experience creating engaging content for digital platforms (social media, email, etc.)
  • Creative, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building new programs

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
