El Técnico Veterinario desempeña un papel fundamental en el cuidado y atención de los animales, brindando apoyo al veterinario y realizando una variedad de procedimientos de manera autónoma. Desde la asistencia en cirugías hasta la administración de medicamentos y la atención de emergencias, este rol implica una amplia gama de responsabilidades.

El Técnico Veterinario realiza labores de apoyo y asistencia al veterinario. Además, realiza procedimientos de forma autónoma que pueden incluir tareas relacionadas a la preparación de instrumentos, manejo de récord de pacientes, laboratorios, radiografías, servicio al cliente, entre otros.

Deberes y Responsabilidades de la posición:

Cuidar y controlar la condición de los animales que se recuperan de cirugía.

Asistir al médico de turno en cirugías u otros procedimientos de recuperación para el paciente.

Calcula y administra medicamentos a los animales.

Preparar citas y dar seguimiento a las mismas.

Mantener un inventario controlado de medicamentos.

Monitorea anestesia de los animales, y controle las respuestas de los animales a los anestésicos para que se puedan ajustar las dosis.

Restringe a los animales durante los exámenes o procedimientos.

Tomar radiografías y muestras de sangre.

Administrar primeros auxilios de emergencia u otros procedimientos para salvar vidas.

Prepara al paciente para recibir anestesia.

Realiza procedimientos dentales a los pacientes.

Realizar citologías y hacer sus lecturas.

Mantener limpias las áreas de los pacientes.

Evaluar y llenar expedientes de pacientes.

Inducción del paciente.

Asegurar que el servicio brindado se facturó correctamente.

Atender pacientes overnight.

Cualquier otra tarea relacionada al puesto.

Habilidades y Experiencias:

  • Buen manejo y uso del microscopio, otoscopio, termómetro, jeringuillas, estetoscopio, leash y computadora.
  • Manejar instrumentos de cirugía; navajas, tijeras, máquina de anestesia.
  • Buen uso de la balanza
  • Buen manejo de maquinarias: CBC, química, radiología, dental.
  • Destrezas Interpersonales: Se comunica e interrelaciona de manera eficiente y efectiva con las demás personas.
  • Orientación al servicio: Identifica las necesidades del cliente y se asegura de que el mismo se sienta cómodo y a gusto con el servicio brindado.
  • Manejo del Tiempo: Organiza su tiempo de manera eficiente para brindar un mejor servicio a los pacientes y sus dueños.
  • Organización: Planifica y determina los materiales que necesita para llevar a cabo cada tarea y mantiene la documentación y su área en orden.
  • Interacción con mascotas: Reconoce necesidades y señales de las mascotas para poder atenderlas de manera eficaz.

Educación:

  • Grado Técnico o Bachillerato en Medicina Veterinaria
  • Experiencia de 1 a 3 años

Requisitos Físicos:

  • Subir y bajar escaleras con animales
  • Restricción de animales (pudieran ser agresivos) de hasta 50 lbs. o más
  • Cargar objetos y cajas pesadas
  • Mantenerse de pie por tiempo prolongado
  • Disponibilidad para trabajar de lunes a sábados y domingos alternos
  • Disponibilidad para trabajar turnos overnight de ser requerido
