Job Description

Starting pay: $45-$48/hr

$5000 Sign-On Bonus

The Journeyman Electrician maintains, installs and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment, structures, facilities, power and control systems and tools following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints as needed to meet production needs. Troubleshoot and repair of complex equipment and distribution systems, involving work of a varied nature with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Be a role model and advocate for safety among co-workers
  • Perform all tasks in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Perform preventive and predictive electrical maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Perform general electrical maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Install and rearrange complex equipment
  • Diagnose complex equipment failures
  • Dismantle, repair and reassemble complex equipment
  • Completes minor repairs of motors, drives, and electrical components
  • Complete routine paper and/or computer work (work orders, work hours, parts, etc.)
  • Assist supervisor, planner and manager in the planning and scheduling of electrical work
  • Work from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches
  • Use shop math on a routine basis
  • Operate man-lifts, scissor lifts, cranes, and forklifts as required
  • Able to operate production equipment as required
  • Ensure shop areas, work areas, parts, tools etc. are kept clean and orderly
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations; promote a culture of safety.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and components.
  • Installation & Repairs: Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex electrical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnostics: Identify and resolve electrical issues using tools, gauges, and technical documentation.
  • Documentation: Complete work orders, time logs, and parts usage records accurately.
  • Planning Support: Assist in scheduling and coordinating electrical tasks with supervisors and planners.
  • Technical Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and verbal instructions; apply shop math as needed.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate lifts, cranes, forklifts, and production equipment as required.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain clean and organized work areas and tools
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Strong understanding of electricity and power distribution systems.
  • Able to start, stop and operate all equipment
  • Good computer skills (entering work hours, work orders, parts usage, excel, and word)
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • Gather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessary
  • Familiarity with working on ladders, scaffolds and in confined spaces/pits
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Forklift, man lift, and scissor lift experience preferred, but not required.
  • Comply with all corporate policies and the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) while working.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in-group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possess an excellent safety record.

  • Desire for continuing education in electronics, PLC, etc.
  • Meet schedules and deadlines on time.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to work on-call as required.
