About the Client & The Opportunity

Our client is a French engineering company and part of the SNF Group, specializing in thermal sludge treatment technologies for municipal wastewater treatment plants. The company designs and delivers complex turnkey solutions for sludge drying, thermal valorization, fluidized-bed combustion, and advanced flue-gas treatment systems, helping municipalities reduce sludge volumes while meeting increasingly stringent environmental regulations.

Following its continued international growth, the company is strengthening its commercial presence in Germany, one of Europe's most strategic wastewater markets, driven by ambitious environmental legislation and significant public investment in wastewater infrastructure.

They are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead commercial development across Germany, identify and secure major municipal projects, and build long-term relationships with public utilities, municipalities, engineering consultants, and key stakeholders involved in wastewater treatment infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the German market, identifying new opportunities within municipal wastewater treatment.
  • Leverage existing relationships with municipalities, public utilities (Stadtwerke), wastewater operators, engineering consultancies, and public authorities to generate new business opportunities.
  • Lead the complete sales cycle for complex turnkey infrastructure projects, from early opportunity identification through contract award.
  • Manage public tender processes, coordinating technical and commercial proposals in collaboration with internal engineering teams.
  • Promote the company's portfolio of sludge drying, thermal treatment, fluidized-bed combustion, and flue-gas treatment technologies.
  • Build trusted relationships with municipal decision-makers, plant operators, engineering consultants, and public procurement stakeholders.
  • Monitor market developments, environmental legislation, and public investment programmes to position the company ahead of upcoming projects.

Candidate Profile

  • 8–10 years of experience selling complex technical solutions or infrastructure projects within the municipal wastewater sector.
  • Proven track record working with municipalities, public utilities, wastewater operators, or engineering consultancies in Germany.
  • Strong understanding of German public procurement processes and infrastructure tendering.
  • Existing network within the German municipal water and wastewater sector would be highly advantageous.
  • Engineering background (Mechanical, Process, Environmental or similar) or equivalent technical expertise.
  • Experience selling EPC, turnkey, process engineering, environmental technologies, or wastewater treatment solutions.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Germany.

Language Skills

  • Native or fluent German.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
  • French would be considered an advantage, given the company's headquarters in France, but is not essential.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
