Job Description

Position Summary

The Assistant Vice President, Project Management – Owner’s Representative Engineering Services supports the leadership and delivery of owner’s representative assignments for major clients within WSP USA Buildings Inc’s Property & Buildings practice. Working under the direction of the Owner’s Representative Engineering Services leader, this role serves as a day-to-day client advisor and project representative, helping owners manage technical, operational, commercial, schedule, quality, and risk considerations across complex building and infrastructure programs.

This role combines project management, technical coordination, owner advocacy, and client communication. The individual works closely with clients, design teams, contractors, and internal WSP specialists to support planning, procurement, design oversight, construction-phase representation, closeout, and operational readiness activities. The position is suited for an advanced technical and delivery professional who can manage project details and work plans, coordinate stakeholders, provide direction on assigned efforts, mentor junior staff, and contribute to successful outcomes while building leadership capability within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an owner’s representative on assigned projects, acting as a day-to-day liaison between the client, design consultants, contractors, and WSP technical teams while helping direct execution of assigned work.
  • Support owners through planning, procurement, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout phases for complex capital projects.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary technical input across engineering, commissioning, sustainability, digital delivery, specialty systems, and other project functions as needed.
  • Assist in development of feasibility studies, technical assessments, options analyses, procurement packages, and owner decision-support materials.
  • Review design deliverables for alignment with owner requirements, project objectives, budget, schedule, quality expectations, and operational considerations.
  • Track project scope, schedule, budget, risk, action items, and technical issues, and communicate status, concerns, and recommendations clearly to clients and project leadership while helping manage work plans within time and budget.
  • Support procurement efforts, including development of RFP documents, bid review coordination, contractor and consultant evaluation support, and recommendation documentation.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, field reviews, and site visits to document progress, identify issues, and help drive timely resolution.
  • Support construction-phase activities, including tracking submittal and change trends, monitoring open issues, and helping confirm that project outcomes align with owner expectations.
  • Contribute to punch list, turnover, commissioning coordination, closeout, and operational readiness activities to support a successful transition to occupancy and operations.
  • Prepare clear written reports, meeting summaries, executive updates, and action trackers for client and internal use.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to less experienced staff and support their development through day-to-day mentoring and coordination.
  • Support business development, proposal preparation, and client relationship-building efforts as part of the broader Owner’s Representative Engineering Services team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in building engineering, project management, construction administration, technical advisory, owner’s representative services, or related capital project delivery roles.
  • Professional licensure or industry credentials such as PE, RA, PMP, CCM, or similar preferred.
  • Experience supporting large, complex building or infrastructure projects on behalf of owners, institutions, developers, or corporate clients.
  • Working knowledge of project delivery processes, building systems, procurement, design coordination, construction-phase services, and project controls.
  • Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and client management skills.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Measures of Success

  • Successful support and delivery of owner’s representative assignments with strong client satisfaction
  • Timely tracking and communication of project risks, issues, and recommended actions
  • Strong coordination across clients, consultants, contractors, and internal technical teams
  • High-quality written deliverables, reporting, and project documentation
  • Demonstrated growth in responsibility, client trust, and contribution to team performance

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
