This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Supervising Track Engineer for our offices in Kansas City, MO.
Your Impact
- Provide design leadership for track design and integration of railroad and transit design projects and pursuits.
- Coordinate and lead engineering efforts on all stages of rail infrastructure projects ranging from planning to design to construction and maintenance support.
- Establish and maintain strong, effective relationships with external clients and market WSP services to local railroads and transit agencies.
- Sustain the growth of younger engineers by assigning appropriate technical tasks and promoting a culture of expanding technical excellence.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior transit and rail experience.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- Proficient with transit and rail engineering principles, practices and processes.
- Proven ability to deliver railroad and transit design projects in the role of lead designer.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills. This includes the ability to present design concepts and principles in verbal and written form to audiences with a wide spectrum of backgrounds, from technical manager to ordinary citizen.
- Knowledge and experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.
- Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
- Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRail), technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
