Main Responsibilities

Editorial Duties

  • Monitor and select relevant stories for daily digital coverage, prioritizing according to editorial value and available resources.
  • React promptly to breaking news, ensuring accurate and timely publication.
  • Produce clear, engaging, and factual content that aligns with Euronews' editorial standards.
  • Coordinate with editors and other newsroom staff to ensure coherent and comprehensive coverage.
  • Apply sound editorial judgment and perform fact-checking to ensure accuracy and balance.
  • Analyze current events and contribute to editorial planning with informed insights.
  • Edit and proofread articles written by other Euronews journalists.
  • Curate and update the Euronews digital front page, maintaining a balanced and relevant news selection.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of editorial processes and workflows.

Technical and Organizational Duties

  • Use newsroom production systems and digital publishing tools efficiently.
  • Ensure the proper integration of multimedia elements in digital content.
  • Collaborate with technical and editorial teams to resolve production issues when necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of digital journalism trends and tools relevant to the role.

Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master education degree (minimum 4-5 years) in journalism or a related field from a recognised University
  • Minimum of two (2) years' professional experience in journalism, including experience with breaking and hard news.
  • Prior experience in an international or fast-paced newsroom environment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent command of English (C2) and French (C2); knowledge of other Euronews languages is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of European and international current affairs.
  • Good knowledge of digital content production methods and audience consumption trends.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in newsroom production systems and digital content management tools.
  • Strong fact-checking and editing abilities.
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities relevant to editorial production.
  • Familiarity with live reporting and broadcast procedures is an advantage.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and within an editorial hierarchy.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to Euronews' editorial values and journalistic standards of accuracy, impartiality, and fairness.
