Help People Regain Independence and Confidence in Their Daily Lives

We're recruiting 2 Reablement Assistants to join Liverpool City Council, based at 106 Townsend Lane, Liverpool, Merseyside, L6 0BB.

This is a hands-on adult social care role supporting people to regain or maintain their independence following illness, injury, hospital discharge or a change in their circumstances.

You'll work directly with individuals in their homes and community settings, providing practical, person-centred support in line with agreed reablement plans. The focus will be on encouraging people to do as much as possible for themselves while maintaining their dignity, choice, safety and wellbeing.

About the Role

As a Reablement Assistant, you'll support adults with everyday activities while helping them rebuild confidence and develop or regain essential independent living skills.

You'll work closely with social care professionals, occupational therapists, health colleagues, families and carers to monitor progress and ensure support remains appropriate to each person's needs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing person-centred reablement support to adults in their own homes and community
  • Supporting individuals to regain independence following illness, injury or hospital discharge
  • Assisting with personal care and daily living activities where required
  • Encouraging individuals to complete tasks independently wherever possible
  • Supporting mobility and safe movement in line with individual support plans
  • Helping individuals with meal preparation and household activities
  • Supporting medication routines in accordance with agreed procedures where required
  • Following individual reablement, care and support plans
  • Observing and recording changes in an individual's health, wellbeing or abilities
  • Reporting concerns or changes in needs to senior staff and relevant professionals
  • Promoting dignity, choice, independence and respect
  • Supporting individuals to access community activities and services
  • Working collaboratively with occupational therapists, social workers, health professionals and carers
  • Maintaining accurate and timely care records
  • Following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns appropriately
  • Supporting safe hospital discharge and preventing unnecessary readmission
  • Following moving and handling procedures and risk assessments
  • Maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Working flexibly to meet the needs of the service and individuals receiving support

Requirements

We're looking for compassionate, reliable and motivated individuals who are committed to helping people maintain or regain their independence.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in reablement, domiciliary care, adult social care or support work
  • Experience supporting older people or adults with care and support needs
  • Experience providing personal care
  • An understanding of person-centred and strengths-based support
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding principles
  • Ability to encourage independence rather than creating dependency
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive professional relationships with service users and families
  • Ability to maintain accurate care records
  • A patient, respectful and compassionate approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of moving and handling procedures would be advantageous
  • Previous local authority or community care experience would be desirable
  • Flexibility to work according to service requirements
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Ability to provide relevant references/work history
  • Ability to complete an enhanced DBS and other required pre-employment checks

  • Opportunity to work with Liverpool City Council
  • Competitive Umbrella rate of £20.01 per hour

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.
