This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Engineer based in India.

Join a fast-moving product startup building AI-native systems that power the next generation of its platform. You’ll take ownership of the engineering foundations behind production AI capabilities and intelligent workflows. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with significant autonomy and end-to-end technical ownership. You’ll work across modern AI tooling, cloud infrastructure, foundation models, agents, and integrations. The role combines rapid experimentation with the challenge of turning prototypes into reliable, scalable systems. You’ll collaborate closely with a small, high-ownership engineering team and founding leadership. It’s an opportunity to have a direct impact on both the product and the underlying AI engineering platform.

Accountabilities

  • Build and continuously improve the AI engineering harness and core AI capabilities powering the product.
  • Develop production-grade AI features using foundation models and modern LLM technologies.
  • Design and implement AI agents, tools, workflows, and integrations capable of taking meaningful actions.
  • Build reliable, scalable infrastructure for AI workloads across cloud services.
  • Experiment rapidly with emerging AI models, frameworks, developer tools, and engineering workflows.
  • Turn prototypes and experiments into maintainable, production-ready systems.
  • Improve AI reliability through evaluation frameworks, observability, logging, guardrails, testing, and monitoring.
  • Integrate AI capabilities with APIs, databases, internal systems, and external tools.
  • Own technical problems end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through deployment and iteration.
  • Partner closely with founding leadership to identify and solve high-impact product and engineering challenges.
  • 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally within a product-focused startup or scale-up.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals combined with an AI-native approach to building products.
  • Demonstrated experience building and shipping products or features powered by AI and large language models.
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and cloud-native development.
  • Experience working with LLM APIs, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool calling, MCP, or similar AI application patterns.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more modern programming languages.
  • Ability to build production systems end-to-end and take high ownership of technical outcomes.
  • A strong portfolio of tangible work, such as shipped AI projects, GitHub repositories, products, demos, or other proof of execution.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and systems-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a hands-on individual contributor within a small engineering team.
  • Comfort operating in an ambiguous, fast-paced startup environment with rapidly evolving priorities.
  • Fully remote role based in India.
  • High level of ownership and autonomy as a hands-on individual contributor.
