About This Role

The Multi Cloud Engineer leads the design, implementation, and support of secure, scalable infrastructure across Kidde Global Solutions’ (KGS) AWS and Azure cloud environments and on-premises data centers built on HPE and VMware, supporting critical enterprise applications and global operations. Operating at both the architecture and execution levels, the role delivers highly available, resilient, and cost-effective hybrid platforms and leads the resolution of complex cloud, data center, networking, security, and performance issues. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering and partnering closely with application, security, infrastructure, and network teams, the Multi Cloud Engineer is a highly self-driven, hands-on engineer who takes complex cloud initiatives from concept through production. The role applies an engineering mindset (Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and a “fix for good” approach) while thriving amid changing priorities, deadlines, and a highly variable workload.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Engineering

Lead cloud infrastructure architecture, operations, and modernization efforts across AWS and Azure environments. Design, implement, and support highly available, secure, and scalable cloud platforms and services for business-critical enterprise applications. Design and maintain cloud networking, including VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, peering, transit gateways, VPN, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute, load balancing, and DNS, in partnership with the Network team. Build and manage compute, storage, database, and platform services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure SQL) to meet performance, availability, and cost requirements. Establish landing zones, account and subscription structures, and tagging standards to support consistent, well-governed multi-cloud growth. Support workload migrations and application modernization from on-premises VMware and legacy platforms to AWS and Azure, and maintain hybrid connectivity between KGS data centers and the cloud. Produce cloud architecture and design documentation, runbooks, work instructions, and root cause analysis reports.

Hybrid Cloud & Data Center Operations

Support on-premises and data center infrastructure, including HPE servers, storage, and hardware and VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter virtualization platforms, covering provisioning, patching, firmware updates, and lifecycle management. Drive monitoring, alerting, and observability across cloud and on-premises environments (e.g., Amazon CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, VMware vCenter, HPE iLO/OneView) to proactively detect, diagnose, and resolve issues. Design, test, and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions for cloud and data center workloads, and perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimization across both.

Cloud Security & Governance

Implement and maintain cloud security controls, including identity and access management, encryption and key management, network segmentation, and security baselines across AWS and Azure. Partner with the Security team and Managed Security Services Provider to monitor and respond to cloud security events and remediate vulnerabilities and audit findings. Support governance, compliance, and policy enforcement (e.g., AWS Organizations and SCPs, Azure Policy) and contribute to incident response and disaster recovery plans.

Service & Support

Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud, networking, security, and performance issues as a senior escalation point, within published SLA/OLA response times. Provide hands-on production support, including participation in an on-call rotation for critical cloud services. Apply ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management practices, recording and tracking all actions in the ITSM tool through final resolution. Partner with application, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver business-critical projects and operational improvements. Coordinate with cloud providers, technology vendors, and managed service providers to deploy, integrate, upgrade, or decommission cloud services.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

Drive cloud automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep) to standardize provisioning, configuration, and change. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and scripted automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to streamline deployments and operational tasks. Provide technical leadership and mentoring while remaining hands-on in engineering, implementation, and production support; evaluate and help adopt emerging cloud technologies. Subscribe to and promote IT policies, health & safety standards, and KGS values.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in cloud infrastructure, operations, or platform engineering, ideally in a global or multi-site enterprise environment. Deep expertise with AWS cloud services and architecture; working knowledge of Microsoft Azure. Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar), automation, and DevOps practices. Hands-on experience supporting on-premises data center infrastructure, including HPE server and storage hardware and VMware virtualization (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter), in enterprise-scale production environments with high availability and security requirements. Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery. Proven ability to independently lead and execute mission-critical projects in fast-paced environments. Able to work US timezone hours the majority of the time. Flexible schedule to accommodate on-call and after-hours needs; ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or DevOps Engineer). Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert). Experience with Kubernetes and containers (e.g., Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, Docker). Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins). Experience with hybrid cloud environments that integrate on-premises HPE and VMware data center infrastructure with AWS and Azure. Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies. Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps practices. Experience with cloud security tooling (e.g., AWS Security Hub, Amazon GuardDuty, Microsoft Defender for Cloud). VMware certifications (e.g., VCP-DCV) or HPE platform experience (e.g., ProLiant, Synergy, Alletra/Nimble storage, iLO, OneView). ITIL Foundation certification. Experience working with cloud providers, technology vendors, and managed service providers. Experience producing technical and cloud architecture documentation.

Key Competencies

Strong customer focus and professional standards. Strong communication skills with stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to establish root cause and corrective actions. Keen attention to detail; well organized. Able to relay technical concepts in a clear, non-technical manner. Highly self-motivated; actively seeks development opportunities. Exceptional time management; able to multitask, prioritize, and work to deadlines under pressure. Works calmly under pressure while managing competing priorities. Collaborates as part of a broad-based global team across a matrix organization. Curiosity to learn more about customers, the business, and emerging cloud technology. Challenges the status quo and drives continuous improvement.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
