Onsite Infrastructure & IT Field Engineer Location: Bradenton, FL Base Salary Rate: $87,095.00 to $102,465.00 Job type: Full-time
About this role The Onsite Infrastructure & IT Field Engineer provides global build, administration, and lifecycle support for the KGS on-premise server estate—more than 500 physical and virtual servers supporting approximately 5,000 Microsoft 365 users and ~6,300 PCs across the global technology landscape. The role performs foundational server operations: provisioning, patching, monitoring, backup and restore, hardening, and documentation, escalating complex design and architecture matters to senior engineering and cloud teams. In addition to the global server remit, this role provides onsite IT field engineering support for the Bradenton, Florida site—acting as an “on the ground” extension of IT Business Relationship Managers and other IT leaders, resolving escalated incidents from the Service Desk, and channeling visibility of site-specific needs. The role works closely with end-users, site supervisors, global IT teams, vendors, and regional IT leaders while thriving amid changing priorities, deadlines, and a highly variable workload. Key Responsibilities Server Operations & Administration (Global)
Build, configure, and decommission Windows Server (and supporting Linux) systems across global sites, following KGS standards, images, and change control. Perform routine server administration globally: patching and firmware updates, OS upgrades, capacity and storage management, certificate renewals, and scheduled maintenance windows. Administer virtualization and hyperconverged platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere/Hyper-V), including VM provisioning, resource allocation, snapshots, and host health checks. Monitor server availability, performance, and alerts using enterprise monitoring tools; perform first-line diagnosis and remediation and escalate complex issues to senior engineering. Execute and verify backup, replication, and restore operations; participate in disaster recovery and IT service continuity testing for on-premise workloads. Apply server hardening, access control, and vulnerability remediation activities in partnership with the Cyber Security team; maintain compliance with security baselines. Support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file/print, and related core infrastructure services at site and regional level. Maintain accurate server inventory, configuration records, run books, and technical documentation in the CMDB and knowledge base. Coordinate with the Cloud Engineering team on hybrid connectivity, server migrations, and workload transitions from on-premise to cloud.
Site IT Field Engineering (Bradenton)
Provide first, second, and third-level onsite and remote IT support for end-user technology at the Bradenton site, and remote support to other sites as required. Manage employee technology needs and issues via Service Desk phone, email, and walk-up in line with governing SLAs, ensuring all incidents and service requests are recorded in the ITSM tool. Deploy, configure, and refresh end-user computing hardware, peripherals, printers, and conference-room technology at the Bradenton site. Maintain site comms rooms, structured and fiber cabling, network/telephony patching, and local switch and WIFI infrastructure in coordination with the global Network team. Troubleshoot general computer issues—LAN, WAN, printer, security, internet, operating system, and productivity software—to resolve incidents and service requests efficiently. Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Process Control, and Operational Technology functions on site IT and IT/OT needs, including cyber security. Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and field staff to exchange information and provide superior customer service.
Service & Incident Management
Use ITIL Service Request, Incident, Risk, Problem, and Change Management principles to complete and reduce tickets in the ITSM tool. Prioritize incidents and service requests and ensure timely escalation to third-level support groups to enable resolution within SLA. Support the Incident, Problem, Change, and Cyber Security Management processes, ensuring business risks and impacts are minimized and all actions are documented and tracked through to final resolution. Engage in Problem Management by tracking and analyzing commonly encountered server and end-user problems and providing proactive communications on remediation steps. Research and test fixes to ensure incidents are adequately resolved, and perform post-resolution follow-ups. Participate in an on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance windows to support global server operations.
Vendor Management, Projects & Improvement
Assist technology vendors and internal IT teams (server, network, telecom, cyber security) to deploy, install, integrate, upgrade, or decommission site IT hardware and software. Support IT infrastructure projects—server refreshes, site build-outs, migrations, and consolidations—delivering assigned tasks on schedule and to standard. Subscribe to and promote IT policies, health & safety standards, and KGS values. Support standardization and automation of routine server tasks (e.g., PowerShell scripting, patch automation) to improve consistency and reduce manual effort. Identify and learn the software and hardware used and supported by the organization, and challenge the status quo to drive improvement in both process and technology.
