The posting

Meta's Technical Sourcing and Commodity Management organization is responsible for securing the components, materials, and supplier relationships that power Meta's hardware and infrastructure products. As a Staff-level Commercial Sourcing Manager for Custom Silicon, you will define and own the commodity and commercial strategy for Meta's custom silicon programs, shaping how Meta sources the silicon at the center of its AI and compute infrastructure. You will operate as the primary commercial interface between Meta's Silicon Engineering teams and the custom silicon supply base, spanning ASIC through COT engagements and including IP providers, foundries, advanced packaging and test suppliers, and memory suppliers. You will operate with significant autonomy, influencing long-term sourcing direction, driving cross-functional alignment across engineering, operations, planning, and finance, and building the supplier ecosystem that enables Meta's most ambitious silicon programs.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own multi-year commodity and commercial strategies for custom silicon, spanning ASIC through COT engagements and covering design services, IP, foundry wafers, advanced packaging, memory, and test, incorporating market intelligence, supply risk analysis, technology roadmaps, and total cost of ownership modeling
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives including RFx development, supplier qualification, competitive negotiation, and contract execution for high-value silicon programs, including development, IP, master supply, and capacity agreements
  • Develop and sustain executive-level supplier relationships, conducting structured business reviews to drive measurable improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and capacity
  • Establish cost models and should-cost frameworks across the custom silicon stack to inform negotiation strategies, benchmark supplier pricing, and influence architecture, node, and packaging decisions toward lower total cost of ownership
  • Identify and execute cost reduction and value engineering opportunities in collaboration with silicon and hardware engineering, product design, and operations teams
  • Assess and mitigate supply chain risks including single-source dependencies, geopolitical exposure, constrained leading-edge capacity, and long-lead-time component dependencies, and develop optionality across sources of supply
  • Drive supplier development and qualification efforts to expand supply base optionality, improve resilience, and support new product introduction timelines
  • Build and drive risk-adjusted ramp plans with engineering, planning, and operations, and own the commercial levers required to protect build schedules
  • Partner with operations and suppliers on supply improvement initiatives, including WIP profiles, cycle time, clear-to-build readiness, and material availability across the sub-tier supply base
  • Establish and operate the metric systems that track supplier cost, supply, and delivery performance, and use them to set targets and drive sustained improvement
  • Partner with silicon and hardware engineering teams to align supplier capability and technology roadmaps with Meta's silicon and infrastructure build schedules, and support transition from new product introduction to mass production
  • Develop and present executive-level category insights, communicating sourcing strategy, supplier performance, and risk posture to cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Mentor other sourcing professionals and contribute to the development of sourcing methodologies, tools, and best practices across the broader commodity management organization

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in technical or commercial sourcing, commodity management, or strategic procurement for semiconductors, complex electronic components, or hardware systems
  • Experience developing and executing multi-year commodity strategies that incorporate market analysis, total cost of ownership, supply risk assessment, and supplier segmentation
  • Experience leading end-to-end sourcing processes including RFx development, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiation, and contract execution for technically complex categories
  • Experience managing strategic supplier relationships and defining the metrics used to drive measurable improvements in supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, and capacity
  • Experience building supply ramp and risk mitigation plans, and driving operational improvements with suppliers
  • Experience communicating sourcing strategy, commodity risk, and supplier performance data to cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders through written and verbal formats

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience sourcing custom silicon, ASIC, or SoC programs, or technical components for large-scale data center and AI infrastructure programs
  • Experience partnering with executive leaders at silicon, foundry, or memory suppliers
  • Track record of operating with resilience, personal accountability, and an ownership mindset through sustained ambiguity and competing priorities
  • MSEE or MBA
  • Familiarity with commodity market dynamics affecting semiconductors, including leading-edge foundry capacity, advanced packaging, and memory
  • Experience applying should-cost modeling, design-to-cost, or value engineering methodologies to silicon and packaging categories

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
