About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior General Manager – Change & Delivery Lead to drive and oversee large-scale Finance transformation initiatives within a complex Life Insurance environment. This strategic leadership role will be responsible for translating business priorities into sustainable change, ensuring strong governance, effective programme delivery, and measurable business outcomes.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Operations, Risk, Technology, HR, and Programme teams while driving transformational initiatives that improve performance, efficiency, and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end Finance transformation programmes from scoping and business case development through implementation, business acceptance, and benefits realization.
  • Drive strategic change initiatives aligned with business objectives, operational priorities, and financial goals.
  • Apply a strong controller mindset by reviewing, validating, and challenging financial outputs to ensure accuracy, quality, and effective controls.
  • Oversee key finance reporting activities, identifying risks, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness, sustainability, and long-term value generated through transformation initiatives.
  • Establish and manage frameworks to track benefits realization, cost savings, productivity improvements, quality enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and value generation assessments to support investment decisions and prioritization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve people, processes, and technology through simplification, automation, and standardization.
  • Perform root cause analysis on delivery challenges and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Manage transformation portfolios, ensuring interdependencies, risks, priorities, and outcomes are effectively controlled.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to align capability development, training, and performance management with future organizational requirements.
  • Build and strengthen transformation capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Promote best-practice sharing across teams, functions, and delivery locations.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior management on programme progress, risks, benefits, and outcomes.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for programme and change-related challenges.
  • Participate in governance forums and provide thought leadership on transformation strategy and execution.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Finance Transformation, Programme Management, Change Management, or large-scale business transformation initiatives.
  • Strong experience within the Life Insurance industry is highly preferred.
  • Sound understanding of Life Insurance accounting, financial reporting, and finance operations.
  • Good knowledge of UK Finance and Insurance regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Finance processes, controls, governance, reporting, and risk management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering complex, multi-workstream transformation programmes with measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience working closely with senior Finance leadership, including CFOs, Finance Directors, FP&A teams, Risk functions, and Audit teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience in operating model transformation, process improvement, automation, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to challenge constructively and drive change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching, capability development, and performance management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
