This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Funding Specialist Lead - South Region based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Funding Specialist Lead to oversee funding operations and support teams responsible for securing insurance coverage and reimbursement for durable medical equipment and complex rehabilitation technology. In this leadership role, you will help maintain accurate documentation, ensure compliance with payer requirements, and improve processing timelines across the funding cycle. You will provide guidance, training, and quality oversight to Funding Specialists while helping resolve complex cases and operational challenges. Working closely with branch teams, healthcare professionals, clients, and insurance representatives, you will support efficient workflows and reliable funding approvals. This primarily remote position combines hands-on funding expertise with team leadership, performance monitoring, and continuous process improvement. Your work will help ensure clients receive the equipment and mobility solutions they need to support greater independence.

Accountabilities:

  • Funding Operations: Coordinate with funding leadership, branch managers, rehabilitation technology suppliers, and office support teams to ensure operational procedures are completed accurately, consistently, and within expected timelines.
  • Funding Process Management: Monitor transaction cycle time from coding and pricing completion through documentation completion, ensuring each step is completed in the correct sequence to support timely, high-quality funding approvals.
  • Team Coverage and Operational Support: Provide funding support during employee absences, vacancies, leave periods, and other operational needs. Assist with coding and pricing, submissions, authorization collection, quality assurance, and delivery verification tasks as required.
  • Documentation Collection and Review: Request, gather, and review funding documentation, including prescriptions, Letters of Medical Necessity, rehabilitation technology evaluations, price lists, assignments of benefits, advance beneficiary notices, and rental or purchase letters.
  • Insurance Verification and Compliance: Verify insurance coverage, communicate benefits and coverage details to clients, and ensure documentation meets applicable payer requirements and internal policies before marking work orders complete.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain professional, timely communication with referral sources, physicians, therapists, rehabilitation technology suppliers, clients, and internal teams to obtain required documentation, resolve issues, and keep funding cases progressing.
  • Client Support and Financial Guidance: Keep clients informed throughout the funding process when applicable, explain financial responsibilities, coordinate collection of required payments, and guide eligible clients through hardship procedures where permitted.
  • Escalation and Problem Resolution: Follow documentation collection escalation procedures, investigate funding issues, coordinate corrective actions, and communicate process changes to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Provide direction, coaching, and guidance to Funding Specialists. Support training, encourage collaboration, motivate team members, and recognize strong performance.
  • Quality Assurance and Performance Monitoring: Conduct routine audits to identify documentation errors, coaching opportunities, and performance gaps. Help maintain high standards of accuracy, productivity, and compliance.
  • Process Improvement and Training: Identify best practices for obtaining clinical documentation, coordinate training opportunities, investigate discrepancies in the UPD, and recommend updates to funding procedures and payer documentation requirements.
  • Management Reporting: Communicate team progress, task completion, operational challenges, and priorities to management. Support performance evaluations and help address customer complaints, billing questions, and payer correspondence.
  • Additional Operational Support: Assist with new business acquisitions, temporary branch processing needs, and other funding-related assignments as requested.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and/or Complex Rehabilitation Technology (CRT), with experience across Funding Specialist responsibilities strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of funding processes and insurance requirements for DME and complex rehabilitation technology, including insurance verification and reimbursement procedures.
  • Experience processing both repair and non-repair funding cases is preferred.
  • Experience using Mobility Advisor or comparable data management and funding systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to guide, coach, motivate, and develop team members in a remote environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, healthcare professionals, internal teams, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • A customer-focused mindset and commitment to accurate, compliant, and timely service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, with practical experience using spreadsheets and formulas.
  • Ability to interpret business reports, technical procedures, work instructions, and applicable governmental regulations.
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and training materials, and to present information clearly to different audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset, adaptability, and willingness to learn and apply professional and industry standards.
  • Ability to work effectively from a home office while following established remote work policies and requirements.
  • Primarily remote work environment, with occasional work in a professional office setting as needed.
  • Opportunity to lead and develop a team supporting essential healthcare equipment funding operations.
  • Meaningful work that helps clients access durable medical equipment and complex rehabilitation technology to support their mobility and independence.
  • Opportunities to contribute to process improvements, staff development, and operational excellence.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
