The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Test Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to drive software quality across the full software development lifecycle. You will plan and execute comprehensive testing strategies for complex applications spanning front-end, back-end, databases, and system interfaces. The position combines hands-on functional testing with test automation, data validation, troubleshooting, and defect management. You will work closely with developers, engineers, analysts, and Agile or Scrum teams to identify issues early and improve application reliability. Security and performance considerations will also be an important part of your testing approach. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced QA professional who enjoys structured problem-solving and making a measurable impact on software quality.

Accountabilities

  • Develop, organize, maintain, and execute software test plans, test cases, test data, and test results based on defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform unit-support, integration, system, and regression testing across front-end, back-end, database, and interface components of complex software applications.
  • Create, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using Selenium while applying basic coding or scripting skills to support efficient and repeatable testing.
  • Analyze application behavior, investigate test failures, troubleshoot technical issues, and work with engineering teams to identify and resolve defects.
  • Use Jira to document, prioritize, track, and communicate software defects, testing activities, and related work items throughout the development process.
  • Apply SQL and Linux commands, logs, and environments to validate application data, perform database testing, inspect environments, and support troubleshooting activities.
  • Collaborate throughout the SDLC with developers, engineers, analysts, and Agile or Scrum teams to improve application testability, quality, and reliability.
  • Incorporate appropriate security best practices and performance-testing techniques into testing activities for complex applications, documenting risks, findings, results, and recommendations.
  • Bring at least 6 years of relevant software testing experience combined with an Associate degree or equivalent educational background.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience testing software applications and applying unit, integration, system, and regression testing methodologies across the SDLC.
  • Have practical experience with Selenium test automation, including developing or maintaining automated test scripts.
  • Be comfortable using Jira for defect tracking, prioritization, work-item management, and communication with development teams.
  • Have working knowledge of SQL for data validation, database testing, and troubleshooting application behavior.
  • Be proficient with Linux commands, logs, environments, and troubleshooting techniques used in software testing and technical investigations.
  • Possess basic coding or scripting skills and the ability to understand, modify, and maintain test automation scripts.
  • Understand Agile or Scrum delivery practices and the role of quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Have experience applying security best practices and supporting performance testing for complex applications.
  • Be highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple testing activities, document results accurately, and follow established testing methodologies.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with effective communication and collaboration when working with technical and cross-functional teams.
  • Be a U.S. citizen currently residing in the United States and able to obtain a Public Trust designation for access to sensitive, unclassified government information.
  • Compensation of $45–$49 USD per hour.
  • Full-time, remote opportunity based in the United States.
  • Opportunity to work on complex software applications and contribute to quality throughout the full SDLC.
  • Hands-on exposure to test automation, Selenium, SQL, Linux, Jira, security testing, and performance considerations.
  • Collaboration with developers, engineers, analysts, and Agile or Scrum teams in a structured software delivery environment.
  • Opportunity to strengthen expertise in comprehensive software testing, automation, troubleshooting, and quality engineering.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
