This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Medical Editor based in India.

This is a senior editorial role focused on ensuring the accuracy, clarity, consistency, and quality of pharmaceutical and healthcare communications. You will work across digital and print advertising materials, presentations, corporate communications, and other medically focused content. The role combines strong editorial judgment with detailed knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical promotion, AMA style, and regulatory requirements. You will contribute throughout the content review lifecycle, including editing, proofreading, fact checking, and reference verification. Working closely with Editorial, Creative, and Project Management teams, you will help deliver high-quality work while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient-focused communications within a collaborative, fast-paced healthcare environment.

Accountabilities

  • Edit pharmaceutical and healthcare content for language clarity, consistency, messaging accuracy, appropriate tone, cohesiveness, organization, grammar, spelling, formatting, and adherence to AMA style.
  • Review digital and print advertising materials, internal and external presentations, and corporate communications to ensure they meet high editorial and quality standards.
  • Participate in content review processes throughout all stages of projects, including detailed proofreading, medical editing, and fact checking with accurate source referencing.
  • Apply knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology to ensure content is accurate, understandable, and appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Support medical and regulatory review activities, helping ensure content aligns with applicable pharmaceutical advertising and promotional requirements.
  • Use AI-supported editorial tools where appropriate to enhance review processes while maintaining human oversight, accuracy, and editorial judgment.
  • Collaborate closely with Editorial, Creative, and Project Management colleagues to prioritize projects, resolve editorial needs, and facilitate efficient project completion.
  • Support team coverage and launch-related activities, adapting to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned projects, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines.
  • Contribute to a collaborative culture by communicating clearly, supporting colleagues, and helping maintain consistent editorial quality across projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience is required.
  • 5+ years of professional editing experience within a healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical communications, or pharmaceutical advertising agency environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of current AMA style, with practical experience applying editorial standards to medical and pharmaceutical content.
  • Experience with medical, regulatory, and legal review processes, along with familiarity with FDA requirements related to pharmaceutical and drug promotion.
  • Strong understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology, with the confidence to work accurately with complex scientific and healthcare content.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, consistency, and proofreading quality, with the ability to identify subtle errors and inconsistencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage rapidly shifting priorities, multiple projects, and demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, supported by strong organizational, time-management, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong digital proficiency, including experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable working with AI-supported editorial tools and adapting to evolving digital workflows and technologies.
  • A collaborative, patient-focused mindset with a commitment to quality, respectful communication, continuous development, and inclusive teamwork.
