The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Systems Engineer (Linux & Windows) based in Germany.

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a cloud adoption and IT operations team responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and high-performing technology environments. In this fully remote role, you will provide first-level operational support, monitor infrastructure alerts, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems. You will work across web servers, load balancers, TLS certificates, and database environments to ensure service stability and performance. Beyond daily operations, you will help optimize configurations, improve technical processes, and share your expertise with colleagues. The position offers a collaborative environment where continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development are encouraged. Flexibility, structured work practices, and a commitment to reliable service delivery are essential, including readiness to work rotating shifts.

Accountabilities:

  • Serve as a first point of contact for customer requests and monitoring alerts within a first-level support and operations team, analyzing and resolving incidents promptly and reliably.
  • Configure, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems, including kernel tuning, filesystem management, system configuration, and Active Directory.
  • Operate and maintain web servers and load-balancing solutions, including Traefik, NGINX, Envoy, and Apache.
  • Manage TLS certificate termination and support database environments using MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
  • Monitor system performance, investigate operational issues, and contribute to service reliability and infrastructure stability.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to system configurations, technical architectures, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve day-to-day operations, share technical knowledge, and support continuous service improvement.
  • Help train and onboard new team members, sharing practical expertise and promoting effective working practices.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and record working hours daily.
  • Participate in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, to support operational continuity.
  • Take on additional technical responsibilities when needed to support team objectives and broaden professional expertise.
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience in IT operations, excluding education and internships.
  • Strong hands-on Linux expertise, particularly in kernel tuning, filesystem management, and system configuration.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows environments, especially Active Directory and Windows system configuration.
  • Practical experience with web servers such as Traefik, NGINX, Envoy, or Apache, as well as load-balancing technologies.
  • Good working knowledge of at least one of the following database systems: MariaDB, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
  • Basic understanding of TLS certificate termination and related security concepts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues systematically and work independently in an operational environment.
  • A structured, reliable, and proactive approach to technical problem-solving and documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an interest in sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Knowledge of German is an additional advantage.
  • Fully remote working arrangement.
  • Flexible working hours, with the ability to balance additional hours and personal commitments within the organization's scheduling framework.
  • Choice of working from home or from an office.
  • Private health insurance.
  • Flexible compensation benefits.
  • Access to professional training programs, English classes, and industry certifications.
  • Opportunities for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Collaborative team environment with opportunities to share knowledge and learn from experienced colleagues.
  • Internal events, outdoor activities, team-building days, and padel matches.
  • Office amenities, including coffee, refreshments, and recreational facilities.
  • Holiday flexibility and support for maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
