The posting

ByteDance's Infrastructure team operates a global backbone network and hyper-scale data center footprint that powers products used by billions of users. As AI workloads and global content traffic continue to surge, we are rapidly expanding our overseas Points of Presence (POP) and edge data center nodes. The Overseas Network Resource & Commerce team owns the end-to-end commercial lifecycle of these nodes — from market entry strategy to site acquisition, procurement, contracting, and delivery support.

We are looking for an experienced commercial professional to lead POP node / data center site selection and commercial management for ByteDance's overseas backbone network. In this role, you will independently identify, evaluate, negotiate, and secure optimal colocation and data center sites across key international markets, driving deals from pipeline to execution. You will work closely with engineering, capacity planning, legal, finance, and operations stakeholders to enable the global growth of our network infrastructure.

Responsibilities Site Selection & Market Analysis - Lead market research and competitive analysis on targeted metros, regions, and new countries to identify data center and colocation opportunities aligned with ByteDance's backbone network roadmap. - Independently evaluate candidate sites across power availability, connectivity, cost, risk, and strategic fit; drive site acquisition strategy and executive decision-making. - Build and maintain site pipeline and market intelligence; perform TCO, power cost, and lease economic modeling to support investment decisions. - Prepare and present executive proposals and deal summaries to senior leadership for approval.

Procurement & Supplier Management - Own the end-to-end procurement process for colocation / data center capacity, including RFI/RFP strategy, supplier shortlisting, bid evaluation, and supplier onboarding. - Develop and manage relationships with data center operators, landlords, and connectivity providers; negotiate commercial and technical terms to secure favorable deals. - Continuously optimize the supplier base and drive long-term acquisition strategy for both cost efficiency and quality assurance.

Contract & Commercial Management - Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of lease agreements, colocation contracts, and related commercial documents, working closely with legal counsel. - Manage the existing lease and contract portfolio; track key milestones, renewal dates, and commercial obligations; identify renegotiation and optimization opportunities. - Own cost analysis, budget tracking, and financial approval processes for assigned projects.

Delivery Support & Cross-functional Collaboration - Coordinate with engineering, capacity planning, operations, and project management teams to ensure selected sites meet technical requirements and delivery timelines. - Lead due-diligence activities (technical, legal, financial, compliance) for target sites and drive resolution of issues. - Drive large cross-functional teams, including government relations, compliance, legal, finance, and engineering partners, to push deals from evaluation to execution.

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Electrical Engineering, AI / Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related fields. - 3+ years of relevant experience in data center site acquisition, colocation procurement, telecom network commercial management, real estate, or infrastructure consulting; experience with hyperscale / carrier-neutral data center markets is a strong plus. - Deep understanding of the AI and data center industry, including power, cooling, connectivity, and colocation commercial models. - Deep understanding of the Telco industry, including L1/L2 transmission network, Internet, IX management, etc. - Strong analytical and numerical skills; Proven experience in TCO modeling, financial analysis, and deal structuring.

Preferred Qualifications: - Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across different time zones. - Proven track record of independently driving complex commercial deals from identification to execution. - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
