Note

Candidates must have 3+ years of complex commercial litigation or intellectual property litigation experience and an active Illinois Bar license. Intellectual property litigation experience, particularly patent litigation, is strongly preferred but not required. We welcome experienced commercial litigators interested in advancing their careers in intellectual property litigation.

Job Description

As a Senior Intellectual Property Litigation Associate Attorney, you will play an important role in managing complex litigation matters, developing case strategies, and helping clients navigate sophisticated intellectual property disputes.

  • Handle complex commercial and intellectual property litigation involving patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and related disputes.
  • Develop litigation strategies and evaluate case strengths, risks, and potential resolutions.
  • Draft and argue substantive motions, briefs, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
  • Lead discovery efforts, including written discovery, document production, discovery disputes, and depositions.
  • Prepare for, take, and defend depositions involving witnesses and other key participants.
  • Collaborate with clients, technical experts, and attorneys to develop compelling legal arguments.
  • Manage significant case responsibilities with increasing independence and direct client interaction.
  • Support hearings, expert discovery, trial preparation, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing litigation team.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active Illinois Bar license.
  • 3+ years of complex commercial litigation or intellectual property litigation experience.
  • Experience drafting substantive legal motions and briefs, managing discovery, and preparing for depositions.
  • Ability to independently manage significant litigation responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client service abilities.
  • Patent litigation, trademark litigation, or trade secret litigation experience preferred.
  • Technical or STEM background is a plus, but not required.
